Dell empowers the modern workforce: Pioneering sustainability, security, and user experience

This increased importance of technology has prompted Dell Technologies to consider how to create devices that cater to the ever-evolving workforce.

As end users and the workforce continue to define new working methods, IT plays a crucial role in facilitating these changes. In fact, Meghana Patwardhan, VP & GM, Commercial Client Solutions, Dell Technologies, stated at a recent Dell Technologies Commercial media briefing that 61% of IT decision-makers acknowledge they could be offering more responsive technology to enhance work experiences.

Additionally, 74% of IT decision-makers believe they could be providing more tailored technology to meet individual needs and preferences. Dell is committed to assisting them in these endeavors, focusing on three key factors:

• Firstly, Dell Technologies has elevated the design and mobility of its Latitude laptops, catering to both executive and mainstream professional users.
• Secondly, the company has updated its entire Precision line of workstations, specifically designed for power users seeking an ideal balance between performance and power.
• Lastly, Dell has streamlined its Optiplex desktop line, making it much easier for IT professionals to select and configure the appropriate systems while also simplifying their management.

To provide more context on Dell’s commitment, it all began with a focus on sustainability. Patwardhan stated that overall, the company is making significant progress towards achieving its advanced sustainability goals, including reaching net-zero emissions by 2050.

Dell is announcing two new updated targets centered on emissions associated with the use of its products and its supply chain. These science-based targets will help the company achieve net-zero emissions, consequently aiding their customers in attaining their own sustainability goals.

“This year, we’re announcing our plans to be among the first in the market to adopt low carbon emissions aluminum and recycled copper, just to name a few of the circular material advancements we are making,” said Patwardhan. “Additionally, to keep materials in use for longer and reduce e-waste, we are committing that by 2030, for every product we sell, we will take back another product for reuse, refurbishment, or recycling. To support this initiative, we have expanded our asset recovery services for our business customers and are focusing on designing products with reparability in mind.”

Embracing sustainability and circular design for the evolving workforce

The redesigned Latitude portfolio addresses remote work challenges by focusing on collaboration, sustainability, intelligence, and design. It includes the compact Latitude 9440 14″ 2-in-1, the world’s smallest 14-inch commercial PC, with innovative features and energy-saving micro-LED backlight technology.

Regarding sustainability, the micro-LED backlight technology significantly reduces power consumption by 75%, leading to an impressive increase of up to three hours in battery life. This advancement benefits both the environment and users who require reliable power.

The Latitude 7000 series has also been redesigned, offering 13-inch, 14-inch, and a new 16-inch design with 2-in-1 options for the 13-inch and 14-inch models. These devices come with a striking aluminum finish, Dell optimizer intelligence, and collaboration and productivity innovations.

The simplified Optiplex portfolio makes it easier than ever to configure, purchase, and manage these products. Dell has eliminated series and model numbers, streamlining the selection process for customers.

The Precision 5680 prioritizes performance, an immersive user experience, and sustainability. This 16-inch, thin and light workstation is the smallest of its kind, equipped with 13th Gen Intel processors. It offers an immersive user experience through a 16:10 UHD+ OLED touch panel, high-quality speakers, and an FHD camera. Sustainability is emphasized through the use of recycled or low-emission aluminum and a power adapter with recycled copper.

Strengthening cybersecurity with CrowdStrike integration

“Security is embedded in Dell’s DNA. It’s built into our designs, infrastructure, supply chain and our products,” said Matt Baker, senior vice president of Corporate Strategy, Dell Technologies. “Our growing portfolio of security services and solutions is helping organisations tackle their toughest security challenges and addressing the increasing complexity of how they stay secure across networks, devices and systems. We’re helping customers double down on resilience in a challenging environment.”

Chuah Yeow Chong, Vice President of Services Sales for Asia Pacific & Japan at Dell Technologies, emphasized that security is a vital aspect of APJ organizations’ business strategies in today’s highly connected, remote work environment. In just the past year, 48% of disruptions faced by organizations in Asia Pacific and Japan were due to cyberattacks.

In light of this, Dell has incorporated CrowdStrike Falcon into its SafeGuard and Response portfolio, providing organizations with more cybersecurity choices. The cloud-native platform expedites threat investigation and response, facilitating a transition to a Zero Trust architecture using scalable solutions.

Renowned for producing secure commercial PCs, Dell is launching a cloud-based version of its Secured Component Verification (SCV) service, ensuring PCs are delivered as specified. The SCV reduces the risk of tampering by creating digital certificates for crucial components stored securely in the cloud. IT teams can validate an entire PC fleet in one view, improving security and saving time.
